NYC Startup Opportunities 8/20

Recap and Resources

Welcome back to the NYC Startup Jobs Newsletter!

This week is a little different. I’m taking a break from the weekly list of startups to recap the companies covered so far. I’m also including a list of resources I recommend for anyone looking for a startup job.

If this is helpful, let me know and share it with someone who would benefit from this content: https://nycstartups.beehiiv.com/subscribe

Startup Recap

The first resource for you is a recap of the 57 companies covered so far in this NYC Startup Jobs Newsletter. Click the image/link below to access the Airtable base with all companies included in the previous 6 newsletters.

Startup Job Boards

There are so many job boards that it can be daunting. Worse, they can have expired jobs, fake jobs, and bad information. This is a big part of why I started this newsletter, with the intent of building a better job board for both candidates and companies. But, while I work on building a better mouse trap, there are still plenty of good options out there that I’ve used both as a candidate in the past and as a recruiter today.

Here are the job boards that I have found useful in the past:

Wellfound (formerly Angel List)
Wellfound has pretty excellent search functionality for job seekers. You can filter by company size, investment stage, location, and more.

Techstars
The Techstars job board features jobs from its large list of portfolio companies. If you’re unfamiliar with Techstars, it’s one of the original startup accelerators and has helped launch thousands of companies. Some of the jobs here can be pretty stale, so I would recommend using it as a reference then going directly to the startup you find interesting.

Y Combinator
Y Combinator is the other original startup accelerator. Similar to Techstars, the Y Combinator job board lists openings from its large list of portfolio companies.

Built In NYC
Built In is another great resource for information on local NYC startups and startup jobs. It’s a good source for startup information as companies can create and own their profiles. Built In gives you a better feel for the culture than other resources.

That’s it for today. Thanks for reading! If you liked this content, or have suggestions on how I can improve this jobs newsletter please let me know.
